Job Description

Position Summary:

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is responsible for following all standard operating procedures of the laboratory and

adhering to all quality regulations. Additionally, the technologist may be assigned duties by the Lab Manager, Lab

Supervisor, and other Clinical Laboratory Operations Leadership for the advancement or maintenance of the

laboratory.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with other departments to operationalize a brand new, innovative test offering at Ambry Genetics
* Oversee the RNA NGS workflow in the Clinical lab space
* Cross training opportunities available
* Follow all procedures and protocols pertaining to patient sample processing, pre-analytical, analytical, and postanalytical testing and general laboratory system that do not directly involve the manipulation of patient samples

or products generated from patient samples of assigned assays (typically 1-2 methodologies)
* Adhere to all Quality regulations (CAP, CLIA & New York State) and ensure all training and competency forms are

complete.
* Daily processing of patient samples within assigned workflow or assay. This includes generating work lists, plate

maps, pulling and filing of primers and reagents daily, pulling and filing of patient samples daily and accurately

processing of samples within assigned workflow or assay within specified TAT's. Timely and accurate completion

and update of sample processing paperwork and lists on a daily basis either manually or electronically making

sure to note any abnormal issues.
* Prior to specimen processing ensures all training and competency forms are complete. Make sure Quality has this

information in the employee files.
* Prior to work, ensure that all equipment and instruments work properly, are maintained through preventative

maintenance and that instruments have been calibrated or verified for calibration. Ensure work area is safe and

clean prior to work and after work.
* Document all deviations from the standard operating procedures (either planned or unplanned) on a Deviation

Report form along with the appropriate corrective actions. Submit to Lab Management and Quality for review and

assessment.
* Analyze data and report results of assigned assays.

Position Requirements:

* Possesses a bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution or higher.
* Licensed Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) specialized in the service of the laboratory or license classified as a General CLS.
* 0-4 years of experience of clinical laboratory experience as a CLS, including a more entry level of accurate analysis experience as a licensed CLS analyst as a verifier who can perform a transcription and document verification for a trained and competent analyst or is in their training phase and is allowed to perform technical validations but whose work requires senior analyst review.
* Highly successful and consistent performance in quality and efficiency of work, proportional to throughput of methodology team. Has successfully completed team methodology specific competencies to be promoted to the CLS I level.
* Previous molecular laboratory experience is preferred.
* Required to maintain Clinical Genetics Molecular Biologist Scientist license once obtained from the state of California. ASCP licensure is optional to maintain.

Shift Schedule:

* This position is scheduled for Wednesday -Saturday 10:00AM - 8:30PM
* Shifts and schedules may change at any time for any reason based on business needs.
* Shift differentials are available for positions that include shifts on Saturdays or Sundays.
