Associate Solutions Architect
Do you want to help our customers to adopt cutting edge cloud computing technology, solve the biggest of "big data" problems, work with Internet scale distributed systems, and see the impact of your work with happy and successful customers?

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for motivated technologists who possess a unique balance of technical depth, business knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills. You will partner with customers and several AWS teams to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud architectures that address customer business problems. As a trusted customer advocate, the solutions architect will help organizations understand best practices around cloud-based solutions, and how to migrate existing workloads to the cloud. You will have the opportunity to help shape and execute a strategy to build mindshare and broad use of AWS within organizations ranging from new start-ups to large enterprise customers. The ability to connect technology with measureable business value is critical to a solutions architect.

You will enjoy keeping your existing technical skills honed and developing new skills. You will help identify areas of existing architectural collateral that are incorrect or need updating in order to ensure customers can create world-class solutions built on AWS.

Roles and Responsibilities
Build a strong foundation of knowledge around AWS cloud services and the cloud ecosystem Educate customers of all sizes on the value proposition of AWS Assist with training sessions for customers considering or already using AWS Collaborate with experienced solutions architects to craft and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community Act as a technical liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support

Basic Qualifications

via work history or university projects
Bachelor of Science degree in a related technical discipline Must be currently enrolled in school, graduating in 2016

Preferred Qualifications

1+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
Software design or development Infrastructure architecture Content distribution Database architecture IP Networking IT Security Troubleshooting Performance Tuning Systems Operations
Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions to both large and small audiences Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly; ability to think abstractly Working knowledge of AWS services, such as Elastic Compute Cloud, Elastic Block Storage, and Simple Storage Service Experience with design/implementation/consulting experience of distributed systems, algorithms, and relational databases Knowledge of Perl or other scripting languages Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS Experience with solution-selling methodologies Strong, object-oriented design and coding skills (C/C++ and/or Java) Previous technical internship(s) preferred Graduate degree a plus - Some positions require ability to travel up to 35%
