Job Description

We are looking for world-class scientists to create and integrate computer vision into Amazon's Fulfillment network. The Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) computer vision research team is using state-of-the-art computer vision technologies to automate the processes for stowing, picking, and packing Amazon's inventory. Our hardware and software systems are deployed in working fulfillment centers and generate a trove of data to drive innovative uses of deep-learning, 3D reconstruction, and other recognition technologies. Our team has the experience of fielding systems into production.

As an applied scientist in AFT Computer Vision you will work on a variety of problems, including action recognition, object detection, 3D estimation, and weakly-supervised learning. You will:
Work directly with hardware engineers to develop end-to-end computer vision systems that process millions of images per day. Interact with software engineers to integrate algorithms into distributed software systems. Develop cutting-edge automation technologies as you collaborate with teams in Amazon Robotics. Connect operational business problems to computer vision problems. Have the satisfaction of seeing your systems deployed in operating fulfillment centers. As a researcher on our team, you can interact with university researchers, mentor interns, and publish their work in internal corporate conferences, with the possibility of publishing externally also.

Basic Qualifications

MS/PhD in Computer Science or a relevant field. Strong mathematical aptitude Experience working in both computer vision and machine learning Proficiency in C/C++ and/or Python Proven track-record delivering computer vision systems, preferably with publications in top computer vision venues. Interest in working with interns and university partners

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Computer Science or relevant field Experience with deep-learning technologies or robotics Experience delivering production computer vision systems.
