Responsibilities

* Develop the core technology
* Use CAD to develop new concepts and detail design.
* Evaluate competing design approaches using any one of the various development tools (DFMEA, fault tree, decision matrices, et al)
* Optimize designs via analytical, numerical and/or empirical assessments.
* Create, develop and release component and system specifications.
* Create component and subsystem design verification plans and test methods.
* Develop and fabricate functional prototypes and test methods to vet out new concepts.
* Collaborate closely with suppliers to develop parts.
* Complete design cycles from concepts to fully validated production designs.
* Manage subsystem and component level design requirements through cross functional collaboration with Battery Engineering, Vehicle Design, and Safety
* Interface with suppliers for manufacturing feasibility and capability

Requirements

* Demonstrated successful experience in mechanical engineering from concept through production release with a focus on DFM.
* A detail oriented personality wit h solid documentation and reporting skills.
* Proficient in CAD modeling, 3DEXPERIENCE knowledge a plus but not mandatory.
* Experience with various manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, metal stamping, thermoforming, welding/brazing, plating, heat treating, bonding, and direct machine shop skills a plus.
* Test experience, including knowledge of sensors, DACs, data collection and data analysis.
* Expertise with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) during design, validation and/or launch of products.
* Knowledge of the development of specifications, DFMEAs, DVP&R's and other technical documents.
* New grad to 5 years mechanical engineering experience.
* BS in Mechanical Engineering. MS beneficial but not required.
* Experience with student formula vehicle competition beneficial.
