Job Description

Alliance Scientific Solutions is currently looking for an entry level chemist position for a global manufacturer in Massillon, OH. This position is great for people that just graduated from college with a chemistry major.

WHAT RESPONSIBILITIES WILL I HAVE?

Seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented Entry-Level Chemist to work in our Technical Department on testing and managing of adhesives and sealants. The Chemist will provide technical knowledge and skills to support and grow the adhesives and sealants business as well as to initiate and improve formulations in order to support company sales and production groups.

Candidate will responsible for the following:

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Qualifying new raw materials.

Routine in-process and finished goods laboratory testing.

Moisture checks by Karl Fischer titrations.

Checking cure rates on the adhesives and silicones.

Administering weekly calibrations of instruments.

Inputting data and results into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.

Responsible for cleaning the laboratory by following all laboratory safety procedures.

Managing samples on the QUV Accelerated Weathering Instrument.

Perform research and lab testing to fully evaluate long term performance for various sealants and adhesives, new or modified formulations

Investigate manufacturing or customer issues and recommend/implement the corrective action. Monitor production to ensure process is within specified control limits. Maintain all data.

Develop new formulations, improve existing formulations and assist manufacturing with scale up production.

Coordinates and communicates with the Formulations department in order to maintain smooth production flow.

May give technical presentations to customers and internal/external groups.

Other duties assigned.

WHAT IS REQUIRED OF ME TO OBTAIN THIS POSITION?

Requirements include but are not limited to:

Must be willing to participate in production scale up, manufacturing, and processes.

Work hand-in-hand with R & D.

Must be capable of following directions and instructions and completing follow through on projects.

Must be very well-organized in relation to record keeping, filing, & maintaining documents.

Must be able to conceptualize and articulate clearly.

Familiar with legislation and regulations relating to laboratory safety, chemical identification, hazard communication and environmental protection issues.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related science.

It is preferred if you have previous laboratory experience.

Solid technical knowledge of chemistry.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

Excellent computer skills required with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Along with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
