Alliance Scientific Solutions is currently looking for a Quality Manager in Taunton, MA for a food manufacturer.

The Quality Manager is responsible for supporting the quality assurance function for the company. This position includes a combination of supervision and active participation in the tasks necessary to ensure that the company manufactures safe and consistent products of the highest quality and that all products are in compliance with government specs and company standards.


  1. Supervises Quality Control technicians.
  2. Assists the QA/QC Director in the development, coordination, and supervision of the QA/QC programs such as Food Safety, HACCP, GMPs, Food defense, and FSSC 22000
  3. Participate to HACCP Program Helps in the implementation, documenting and monitoring of the system with the help of a cross-departmental team.
  4. Supervise monitoring, verification and documentation of SOPs related to product quality standards, food safety, and sanitation.
  5. Supervises the production of consistent quality products through the development and enforcement of good manufacturing practices, and procedures.
  6. Helps in communicating product safety and quality standards to company personnel.
  7. Gives support in coordinating all quality and food safety-related activities including process and testing.
  8. Monitors the production environment to identify areas where quality or safety procedures can be implemented or improved.
  9. Communicates to management manufacturing processes and compliance with standards deviations.
  10. Coordinates all QC instruments ensuring they are up to date and calibrated. (Water meters, scales, thermometers, ph meter )
  11. Works with supply chain, R&D and suppliers regarding ingredients specifications and quality.
  12. Assists in the development of new products.
  13. Assists in all audits-both internal and external.
  14. Monitors appropriate controls, sample plans, hold/release system, code rotation, processing controls, and other production systems.
  15. Evaluate and participate to ensure traceability procedure is implemented and effective
  16. Supervises final product microbiological, chemical and sensory sampling.
  17. Supervise and maintain sensory program for the facility
  18. Controls further processing or shipment of nonconforming material or defective product.
  19. Provide training, coaching, mentoring, empowering and developing team members. This includes coordinating team involvement activities to drive continuous quality improvement processes.
  20. Conducts relevant training and education on food safety.
  21. Trains employees in quality systems and procedures.
  22. Follows up on customer complaints and works together with management to reduce complaints.
  23. Ensure QA supplies budget is followed
  24. Supervisor and ensure compliance to record procedure within the QA department
  25. Assumes additional responsibilities as required.


  • BS in Food Science, Microbiology, or Bachelors degree in similar scientific field with appropriate QA experience.
  • Must have a minimum 3 years previous QA experience in the food production industry with a minimum 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Food Sensory evaluation experience and skills required.
  • Knowledge of FDA, FSSC 22000, GMP, SOP, HACCP, ISO, sanitation, chemical safety, pest control, food allergens plus Kosher Requirements.
  • HACCP certified a must.
  • Adaptable and flexible in work schedule.
  • Strong leadership skills and communication skill are essential.
  • Excellent planning skills, record keeping/documentation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in order to meet company demands.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
