ROLE SUMMARY Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Grants Manager is responsible for all grant writing, grant management activities, and occasional Communications writing projects to support the fundraising and external communications goals of Alliance College-Ready Public Schools. The Grants Manager is part of the larger Advancement team at Alliance, which includes Development, Communications and Advocacy. She or he maintains a deep understanding of Alliance's work and manages stakeholders from across the organization to develop compelling proposals and report on progress. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Grant research, management and writing: * Identify, research, cultivate and grow institutional funders. * Manage private and public grant writing and reporting: *
  • Prepare and write LOIs, concept papers, proposals that are tailored to each funder based on their priorities and requirements * Edit grant requests written by others * Coordinate Alliance participation in and submission of state and federal grants, work with contracted grant writers when necessary * Manage and write grant reports, ensure submission of thoughtful and timely reports * Ensure compliance for federal and state grants, including facilitation of program officer calls, audits, monitoring visits, and regulatory guidance. * Working with Director of Annual Fund and Donor Engagement, perform outreach and grant writing for corporate sponsorship prospects. Relationships and Communications * Communicate with various Alliance departments to maintain familiarity with programmatic and budgetary activities for reporting and for developing funding prospects. * Maintain up-to-date information on funder communications, deadlines and reporting requirements. * Facilitate and manage prospective funders (i.e. site visits, meetings, calls, and other cultivation, including those involving Chief Executive Officer, Chief Academic Officer and Vice President of Development). * On occasion, support the Communications team by writing and/or editing content such as, emails, biographies, and executive talking points. * Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Development. THE STRONGEST CANDIDATES WILL HAVE/BE: * Commitment to Alliance's core beliefs and educational philosophy * Demonstrated success in growing revenue and a donor base within the area of institutional funding * Ability to work effectively in a multi-layered organization and build strong relationships with diverse external and internal constituents * Excellent verbal and written communications skills * Strong organization and project management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities, especially relating to planning volunteer and fundraising events * Strong strategic and critical thinking necessary to inform goals and strategy, as well as build infrastructure * Ability to work independently and within a team environment * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google-based software applications * Entrepreneurial spirit to thrive in a fast-paced and achievement-oriented environment * Willingness to go above and beyond to contribute to the success of a dynamic team committed to a new future for urban education MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university * Two (2) years experience in grant writing and project management, preferably in an educational setting * A proven track record in fund development from foundation and government grants is preferred * Experience with Salesforce or other fundraising software programs a plus COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Alliance offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience, as well as an employer-sponsored 403b plan annual contribution equal to 5% of regular earnings, and comprehensive health benefits packages, including dental and vision. Alliance covers 100% monthly premiums for individual employees or up to $900/month toward family plan premiums. How Students Learn Best - We believe that students learn best when there is rigorous standards-based curriculum with high thinking demand that challenges students to test their understanding of concepts through experiencing real life applications; when students know clearly the expectations and criteria they are trying to meet and can judge their own work; and when students participate actively in classroom talk about the concepts and standards they are learning. Integrated Technology - Students and teachers must have adequate access to technology to use it effectively in student learning, classroom instruction, data management and communication. We believe that technology used as an effective tool in high performing schools must provide electronic assessment and electronic student portfolios that provide immediate access to student progress data for teachers, students and their parents. Principal Leadership - Excellent schools must have exemplary principals who are capable instructional leaders and entrepreneurs in managing resources. We believe that exemplary principals are developed through in-depth leadership training and through apprenticeship with principals who have demonstrated success in their schools.
