Vice President, Business Development

The Allegheny County Airport Authority has an available full-time opportunity for a VP, Business Development at the Pittsburgh International Airport.


Under the limited supervision of the Chief Commercial Officer, the Vice President of Business Development provides leadership and strategic direction to the Business Development team. The role includes identifying, evaluating, developing, negotiating, and implementing new revenue enhancement strategies.


  • Integrate and align business development goals with the Authority’s strategic plan;
  • Negotiate and manage all streams of revenue, including parking, concessions, leases, rental cars, cargo, natural gas royalty, real estate, and aeronautical revenue for both the Pittsburgh International and Allegheny County Airports;
  • Identify business opportunities through the process of data analytics to support additional revenue growth;
  • Identify and create a revenue generation strategy for each revenue stream;
  • Develop pricing strategies;
  • Integrate revenue management tools and technology to support business decisions;
  • Source, attract, negotiate and work with business enterprises and concessionaires to offer enhanced services and amenities for airport users;
  • Build strong customer relationships with the ability to recognize and present strategic solutions to achieve or exceed business objectives;
  • Partner with the marketing team to ensure new service offerings are promoted to airport users;
  • Negotiate with tenants or their legal representatives; analyze the financial qualifications of prospective tenants and business operators; review and coordinate tenant improvement projects;
  • Define business processes and related systems for the Authority, such as contracting and leasing procedures;
  • Determine appropriate team members to showcase and present the airport to potential partners;
  • Develop quality standards and apply those standards to contracts and policies to ensure that tenants and business partners meet or exceed customer service and operational excellence objectives;
  • Manage the department budget as it relates to revenue and expenditures;
  • Assist and support the Chief Commercial Officer in airline negotiations;
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned or required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA):

  • Extensive knowledge of the full range of business functions and systems, including planning, budgeting, and business analysis;
  • Extensive knowledge of negotiation tactics;
  • Ability to consult with legal counsel on complex legal matters;
  • Ability to create business solutions to practical problems, including the integration of technology;
  • Considerable understanding of the practices and techniques of senior organizational leadership, management, and administration; including staff development and direct supervision;
  • Extensive analytical and organizational skills and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Extensive ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to travel up to 5-10%.
