Job Description

Information Security Data Protection Intern

In this support role on AlixPartners' Information Security team, you will work with our in-house data protection team to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets within the enterprise.

The Information Security Data Protection Intern is a short term/full-time role located in Southfield, Michigan and reports to the Information Security Risk Assurance Team Lead. Paid relocation and benefits are not available for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

* Learn to identify and contribute to the visibility of potential gaps and weaknesses in the current operating environment.
* Review potential data protection incidents identified by the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) system, coordinating with other areas of Information Security and the business as necessary.
* Escalate potential issues when appropriate.
* Participate in data breach investigations and responses as required to assist in the repair of damage caused when data is compromised and learn to take measures to seal the security hole that enabled the data compromise.
* Review data protection reports and metrics to analyze trends and recommend improvements to ensure evolving detection and mitigation capabilities.
* Support Information Security programs which include security enhancements, new security technology evaluation and testing, project requirement gathering, internal client communications, data protection inquiries, and documentation.
* Assist with development and maintenance of technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
* Additional duties as identified

* Applicant is part of a co/op or Intern program (e.g., Kettering, Lawrence Tech, etc.).
* In the process of earning an IT-related degree, preferably in Cyber Security.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Possess a desire to dig down into issues and determine root cause(s), as well as to seek to understand through questioning.
* Must be process and detail oriented, while able to grasp the big picture; creative and innovative with a demonstrated track record of collaboration and teamwork.
* Must be able to work in an office environment and be physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the work day
