Job Description

The Assistant Controller helps to manage the Accounting and Payroll departments and is actively involved in the strategic planning of the corporation.

This position also assists in interfacing with the parent organization on critical financial issues.

The Assistant Controller assists with, but is not limited to, the following job duties:

* Supports major economic objectives and policies for the company
* Responsible for assisting with monthly and annually closing of the books of record for Aleut Management Services and all subsidiaries
* Supports and prepares financial analyses of operations for guidance of management
* Reports and recommends to top management changes in regard to policies and programs
* Supports and coordinates company's financial affairs according to financial principles and government regulations
* Plans and assists in new operational procedures to obtain optimum efficiency and reduced costs
* Supports establishment of extensive lines of credit
* Supports receipt, disbursement, and expenditures of money or capital assets
* Assists and prepares documents effecting monetary transactions
* Supports the preparation of documents concerned with safekeeping, control, and accounting for assets and securities
* Supports preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
* Supports the payroll functions as necessary
* Analyzes division or department budgets requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made, and allocates operating budget
* Develops indirect rate structure for contract billing and bidding purposes
* Supports the preparation of reports which outline company's financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present and future operations
* Assists with the preparation of directives to division or department administrator outlining policy, program or operating changes to be implemented
* Supports and assists with the interface with internal and external audit agencies, including Defense Contract Audit Agency, Defense Contract Management Agency, Internal Revenue Service, Outside audit teams, and state and local taxing agencies
* Promotes organization in financial markets to assure sources of capital
* Responds to all day to day and ad hoc requests for accounting and financial data
* Might perform all supervisory requirements such as goal setting, performance feedback, organization of work duties, etc., for some or all of payroll and other accountants

Required Experience

* Minimum of five (5) years experience
* Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Finance or Business Management

* Computer proficiency in MS Office and Deltek Costpoint
* Capable of business communication and professional communication
* Capable of assisting with negotiating of all financial contracts including, but not limited to: insurance arrangements, lines of credit and other debt obligations, terms of acquisitions and assets sales

Preferred Experience

* CPA, CISA, CPM or related certificates preferred
* Prior Assistant Controller experience or equivalent
* Experience with Deltek Budgeting and Planning
* Experience with Cost Point Analytics
