POSITION TITLE: EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT - LIBRARY/MEDIA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To assist certified staff in providing delivery of the instructional program and providing an efficient library-media environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:

* Works with individuals and small groups in the classroom to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
* Assists students, community members and teachers using library-media resources.
* Locates, collects, prepares and arranges resource material for use by certified personnel.
* Prepares displays of new and existing library-media materials and student work.
* Prepares library-media correspondence as necessary.
* Orders, operates, organizes, maintains, circulates, shelves, discards and files library-media materials, resources, supplies and equipment.
* Reviews and produces reports as necessary regarding library-media activities and maintains inventory.
* Trains and coordinates the activities of volunteers, student aides and professional staff.
* Receives and audits library-media deliveries.
* Assists in maintaining an orderly and disciplined atmosphere in the library.
* Monitors student activities and provides non-instructional support for various duties at the school site as requested by the immediate supervisor.
* Serves as a model in developing students' language and behavior.
* Monitors student activities in classrooms, school grounds, hallways, lunchrooms, field trips, bus loading areas, etc.
* Escorts students to other locations on campus and off campus with the approval of immediate supervisor.
* Assists in the collection of library fines and missing book charges.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:

REQUIREMENTS:

* High School Diploma or GED.
* Licensure based on State Department of Education Regulation No. 90-5
* Must be at least 18 years of age
