Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesIncludes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Reviews prescriptions issued by AHF Providers or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy and clinical appropriateness.
* Prepares, fills and compounds drugs and IV orders by AHF Provides and other authorized prescribers.
* Directs pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging, labeling pharmaceuticals and the appropriate dispatch of the medications to clients.
* Uses available methods to help ensure medications identity, purity and strength.
* Answers questions and provides information to patients and providers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals.
* Maintains established policies and procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
* Manages appropriate data collection, such as client name, prescribed medication and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory.
* Instructs interns and other personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy.

Expectations

* The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, be highly motivated to provide outstanding customer service.
* Assist the Pharmacist-In-Charge/Manager in growing the business of the pharmacy through customer service, customer retention, and new customer enrollment.
* From time to time, attend various functions and be involved in various activities that will promote AHF and in particular, the pharmacy services.
* Assist the Pharmacist-In-Charge/Manager in developing services to meet the customer base for the particular site and location.
* Become certified in various capacities, when appropriate, to provide additional client services such as flu shots, diabetic screening and smoking cessation programs.
* Become certified to provide HIV testing and counseling, if appropriate.
* Become familiar with all aspects of AHF's services including the Positive Healthcare programs, prevention and testing, Out of the Closet Thrift stores and be prepared to refer customers to AHF services and programs.
* Be aware of competitors, their services, and effectiveness in the market place.
