Intern, Analytical Sciences, CMC

Agios (agios.com) is a biopharmaceutical company committed to applying our scientific leadership in cellular metabolism to transform the lives of patients with cancer and rare genetic diseases. We are growing rapidly with an active research and discovery pipeline across both therapeutic areas. Agios has two approved oncology precision medicines and multiple first-in-class investigational therapies in clinical and/or preclinical development.

Agios is seeking a motivated, hands-on contributor in the CMC, Analytical Sciences organization to support in-house pharmaceutical and analytical development, routine and development laboratory testing, and contribute to the overall CMC strategy of drug development at Agios. The ideal candidate will develop analytical expertise in key chromatography techniques and analytical software programming in the context of pharmaceutical drug development.

Responsibilities:

* Regular and consistent attendance to all program related discussions
* Maintain a laboratory notebook and complete all documentation with clear and accurate language
* Frequently interact with members of project teams to obtain or communicate key information and results
* Perform a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence

Preferred Qualifications:

* Proficient in the use of analytical instrumentation
* Working understanding of chromatography and interest in pharmaceutical analytical development
* Strong technical capability to understand analytical techniques, gain experience, and quickly become proficient with laboratory techniques and equipment with the willingness to learn
* Working understanding of wet chemistry and analytical instrumentation
* Knowledge in the operation of computer and data acquisition programs
* Ability to write protocols and reports with minimum supervision
* Communicate effectively and follow detailed written and verbal instruction
* Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to understand information and ideas presented
* Cooperate with coworkers within an organized team environment or work alone with supervision
* Manages time effectively to complete assignments in expected time frame
* Ability to plan, schedule, and carry out work for successful project completion
* Ability to present results and understand the importance and meaning of data to ensure support of Agios programs
* Positive attitude and ability to work well with others
* Ability to perform under tight timelines and multi-task.
* Currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry or related field with laboratory experience utilizing analytical techniques
