Intern, Strategic Sourcing

Agios (agios.com) is a biopharmaceutical company committed to applying our scientific leadership in cellular metabolism to transform the lives of patients with cancer and rare genetic diseases. We are growing rapidly with an active research and discovery pipeline across both therapeutic areas. Agios has two approved oncology precision medicines and multiple first-in-class investigational therapies in clinical and/or preclinical development.

Agios is searching for a dynamic summer intern to join our growing finance team. The Strategic Sourcing Intern will report to the Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager. The intern will receive training and support through knowledge of internal sourcing/procurement practices. Over the course of the internship the intern may play the role of project manager, internal category partner, data analyst, and problem solver. The Sourcing intern responsibilities ideally suit someone looking to forge a career in Sourcing, Procurement, or Supply Chain in Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.


* Lead the collection of supplier data utilizing internal/external tools and databases

* Generate detailed supplier profiles incorporating supplier risk, financial data, yearly spend, and performance reviews

* Execute sourcing related cost improvement /cost avoidance opportunities via negotiating and managing of supply contracts/proposals with sponsor supervision

* Build and execute sourcing events (RFPs) in close collaboration with Strategic Sourcing managers

* Interact directly with suppliers and internal sponsors to answer questions and facilitate their bid submission

* Learn with hands on training of source to settle lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications:

* Applies analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex projects
* Proficient with MS Excel
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
* Strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking
* Team player with a positive attitude and ability to hit the ground running
