Job Description

JOB Title: Global Product Manager, Protein


Job Summary

 

GSI is a global leader in swine, poultry, and egg production.  We manufacture all the equipment necessary to for production, including: feed systems, watering systems, ventilation equipment, heating, cooling, electronic controls, and structures.  These products are manufactured in our plants around the world for global markets.  Many of these markets have unique requirements, and demand unique products.  However, there are many similarities to animal protein production regardless of the region as well.

 

The Global Product Manager, Protein is an expert in swine, poultry, and egg production.  (S)he understands how things are done in each region and develops a product roadmap that gives customers the best possible products. (S)he also understands manufacturing environments and optimizes engineering and manufacturing resources by identifying and driving truly global designs versus regional variations.

 


Job Function and Responsibilities

  • Works with region leaders to develop product roadmaps
  • Identifies product overlaps in the regions and develops global product development projects
  • Drives the execution of these global projects, ensuring all regional needs are met
  • Embraces the stage/gate process, delivering projects on-time and on-budget
  • Seeks out innovative technologies/solutions and incorporates into product roadmaps
  • Rationalizes product lines where appropriate

 

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS 
Education

  • Bachelor Degree in mechanical engineering, business, or other degree with demonstrated relevant experience in technical product development and management

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in new product development and product management
  • Experience in the swine, poultry, and/or commercial egg industry
  • Strong mechanical product background, across multiple materials and manufacturing techniques
  • Strong VOC experience…a real passion for solving customers’ needs
  • Balances tactical and strategic issues
  • Clearly communicates both upward and downward with stakeholders
  • Strongly influences across departments and regions without direct authority
  • Business acumen (NPD business cases, margin analysis, global IFO understanding)
  • Makes data-based decisions, yet still functions with ambiguity
  • Extremely organized, motivated, and results-oriented

Travel Required

  • Frequent travel to regions required, estimated at 5-10 nights per month
