Job Description

Technical Writer:

 

AGCO is currently seeking a Technical Writer to join our team in Hesston, KS. The Technical Writer will mainly be responsible for producing operator manuals, service manuals and instruction sheets supporting AGCO marketed products. Additionally, the Technical Writer will collaborate the engineering department and other personnel to further understand product technologies and production methods.

 

Note: May 2017 graduates with Automotive/Heavy Equipment experience are encouraged to apply.

 

Responsibilities of the Technical Writer:

  • Author topic based content according to established standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, terminology and graphics.
  • Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content
  • Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material
  • Study drawings, specifications, virtual models and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail
  • Interview technical service/support/training, production and engineering personnel and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods
  • Observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating or servicing procedure and detail

 

Required Qualifications of the Technical Writer:

  • 1+ years of experience working with engineering CAD Systems
  • 1+ years of experience developing structured content using Arbortext or XML/DITA
  • 1+ years of experience servicing and repairing agricultural equipment
  • 2+ years of experience working with Advanced Technology Systems (GPS Guidance Systems, Mobile Command Systems, or Telemetry)

 

Preferred Qualifications of the Technical Writer:

  • 3+ years of experience in the safe operation, servicing, and repair of equipment

 

Education of the Technical Writer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communication, engineering, computer science, or similar field
