Job Title: Human Resources Generalist                               

Department: Human Resources 

Reports to: Manager, Human Resources

Classification: Exempt                                      


Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist will assist the Manager, Human Resources with plant human resources strategies, programs and processes in alignment with GSIAGCO North America Human Resources business goals and objectives. Responsible for employee relations, recruiting, staffing, workforce planning, performance management and leadership development and employee communication for temporary, hourly and non-exempt employees.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure the recruitment and staffing of temporary, hourly and non-exempt level positions.
  • Establish and maintain communication and relationships with area businesses, colleges, schools, agencies and professional organization for the purpose of recruiting qualified candidates for skilled labor vacancies.
  • Ensure adequate training in the areas of new employee orientation, safety training, leadership training, and other training as needed.
  • Prepare necessary reports as requested and/or required, in a timely manner.
  • Administer coaching/counseling/discipline with hourly and salaried employees, as appropriate.
  • Establish and adhere to GSI and/or AGCO policies as appropriate.
  • Participate in safety committee and initiatives.


Safety Responsibilities

Employees are responsible for individual compliance with all safety rules, policies and procedures.  Associate responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Comply with all safety rules, policies and procedures.
  • Report any unsafe practices and/or conditions to their supervisor.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and report any defective PPE.
  • Report all near-misses, incidents, injuries, illnesses, including mobile equipment or property damage.
  • Participation in the site Safety and Health Program.


Essential skills


Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Two or more years of experience in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, including knowledge of EEO, ADA and FMLA.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across levels to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills, including group facilitation and presentation skills; excellent interpersonal skills, including leadership, influencing and relationship-building across functions.
  • Strong planning and project management skills and ability to apply these skills in effective working partnerships across organizational lines.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment

This job generally operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is also exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the work environment. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.


Physical Demands

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this job.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands or arms.


The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.


The employee must occasionally wear personal protective equipment (i.e. eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, sleeves, etc.)



Minimal travel is expected for this position.
