Job Summary 

The CI/Lean Coordinator is a position within our CI team that is a developmental position (up to maximum of 3 years) used to develop skill sets within CI/Lean principles that will establish and/or refine their abilities to provide leadership, guidance, and support to ensure effective - efficient operational measurements are met and or exceeded with regard to areas assigned.


In the role, the Coordinator will be trained on and be responsible for the implementation of AGCO Production System (APS) Principals, Concepts, and best practices (with support of Continuous Improvement Manager, Production and Business Unit Manager) related to process improvements that support Safety, Quality, Delivery, Efficiency, and cost reduction KPI’s.  


Essential Job Functions

  • Facilitate and lead continuous improvement events that support team and employee development in Lean principals, tools, and concepts.
  • Direct, support and promote a work environment of continuous improvement through proactive process improvement programs and associate training, elimination of process waste and variation reduction.
  • Promote a team environment through effective communication and associate involvement
  • Proactively engage the support of indirect support personnel to achieve departmental and business objectives.
  • To foster an environment of learning through effective training of employees in APS tools and methods; Value Stream Mapping, Kanban(Pull Systems), Level Loading, heijunka, PFEP, Supermarket, Milk Run design, Waste identification, 5S, Visual Management, JIT, SMED, Takt Time, and Poka Yoke.
  • Expected to develop and maintain required relationships with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, Engineering, Materials Planning, Shipping, and other areas as required meeting targeted business goals and objectives.  Maintain an effective relationship with Purchasing to affect positive supplier/vendor relationships.
  • Provide team support and guidance with demonstrated problem solving skills, and monitor development of Standardized work documentation, material flow improvements, and progress tracking in areas assigned.
  • 50% time on the production floor and 50% time creating and maintaining LDMS and Kanban systems
  • Support LDMS teams, update and drive assigned Action items to closure.



Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Prolonged standing, moving, walking, occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing stairs, pushing, pulling, in an environment that includes both indoors and outdoors. 
  • Will be required to work in or around manufacturing equipment, which will require use of PPE.  Moderate noise levels are expected at or around 85dB.  PPE is required as well as safety glasses, steel toed shoes, etc. Occasionally may be required to work with or around solvents, paints, oils, greases, irritants, etc. 
  • Required safety equipment: safety glasses, earplugs, respirator, welding helmet, gloves, safety shoes, safety harnesses, may be required depending on job location)
  • Normal manufacturing environment



  • Strong leader and excellent communicator
  • HS Diploma or demonstrated experience, post HS education highly desirable but experience and learned knowledge may be substituted and considered in place of formal education.
  • 2+ years of progressively responsible or related experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Solid grasp of manufacturing concepts, methods, and manufacturing techniques to include but not limited to assembly, welding, machining, painting, and other related manufacturing methods.  Prior experience in lean, flow-through manufacturing a plus. . 
  • Knowledge in use of SAP or other related ERP application software preferred.
  • Must be computer literate; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ERP Systems.
  • Basic understanding of production planning and production control functions.
  • Exceptional influencing and communication skills with ability to communicate at all management levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to think conceptually with a real commitment to change and continuous improvement.  Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to develop improved manufacturing strategies that will support GSI business objectives on a departmental and building wide basis.
