Job Summary

* Performs routine fieldwork as a trainee (such as environmental sampling, assisting with calculations, and operations, maintenance and inspection of equipment of client site), working under close supervision.

* Performs routine tasks in support of project staff and handles less complex duties.

* Entry-level position; may not require previous experience.

* Degree preferred.

Minimum Requirements

* High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

* Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; many projects/ clients are security sensitive.

* Must pass pre-employment drug screen.

* Must possess a valid California driver's license with clean driving record.

* Candidate must be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination.

* Candidate must be able to enroll and meet the standards of the Los Angeles Clean Card Program, which includes periodic drug screening.

* Mechanical troubleshooting & repair skills.

* Excellent work ethic and team-player attitude.

* Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to follow specific instructions.

* An ability to effectively express his or herself orally and in writing to other project staff.

* Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, dryness, noise, dust and chemicals; position requires frequent standing/walking; often repetitive bending & stooping, power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), and lifting of less than 25 pounds; occasional lifting of 25-50 pounds, operation of vehicles, work around heavy equipment, keyboard/mouse operations, and repetitive or fine hand movements; rare working with arms above shoulder level, and climbing stairs or ladders. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection.

Preferred Qualifications

* Associates or Bachelors degree in a scientific field of study preferred.

* Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) eligible or currently possess one.

* Trade certification or Associates Degree(s) a plus.

* First Aid/CPR training completion is preferred.

* 40 Hour HAZWOPER completion is preferred; Selected candidate will be required to complete 40 hour HAZWOPER training or annual refresher class.

* OSHA 10 or 30 hour Construction training is preferred.

* Proficiency in MS Office software (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
