ABB is seeking a Water & Waste Water VFD Intern for its Wauwatosa, Wisconsin location. The water and waste water variable frequency drive intern supports project management, project engineering, proposals engineering, sales, application engineering, and product management. This cross functional position works side-by-side with a variety of team members with decades of experience in the water & waste water. Past interns have found the position to be very rewarding, as it exposed them to a variety of roles, and the skillsets needed to be successful in those roles.

Candidates with an Electrical, Mechanical, or Environmental/Civil engineering background/preference will enjoy learning how water and waste water facilities work and how products are applied in all the different processes. A candidate with a future in technical sales will participate in the commercial aspect of price negotiations and value engineering solutions to win business. A candidate with an Electrical Engineering background would enjoying learning how to complete a harmonic analysis, read electrical one-line diagrams, evaluate electrical schematics, and learning how a VFD works. Environmental/Civil engineering candidates will value working with consulting engineers and reviewing specifications. Other learning objectives would apply to any background, such as learning how to successfully manage multiple projects, each with their own unique demands and timelines.

Your responsibilities

* Manage projects.
* Respond to engineering comments.
* Creation/modification of submittals.
* Coordinating with Authorized Manufacturing Centers
* Supporting quotation activities, such as tracking quotes.
* Writing application notes.
* Creating training material with the opportunity to present the material.
* Researching technical content and standards.
* Reviewing electrical diagrams.
* Application and technical support.
* Perform harmonic calculations.
* Support product management and marketing.
* Develop process improvement documentation.

Your background

* Candidate pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Environmental Engineering or another STEM degree.
