Job Description

Heating and Cooling Products Leading HVAC Manufacturer with state of the art metal fabrication equipment has the following opening: Lean Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary:

Lean Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for executing Lean manufacturing techniques including 5S while completing duties like designing new machines and tools, optimizing work flow, finding ways to reduce costs, following work standards, organizing employee training, and reaching budget objectives. Most example resumes for Lean Manufacturing Engineer highlight qualifications like LEAN expertise, technical abilities, problem solving, innovation, creativity, computer competences, and attention to details. The ability to plan and reach expense budget objectives is also important.

Essential Responsibilities/ Activities:

  • Assist in the development of a continuous improvement program.
  • Apply 5S lean processes principles to increase efficiencies across all production departments, using data from metrics evaluations to concentrate on areas of focus and measure improvement.
  • Evaluate improvement plans and provide the value added justifications Assist and or propose cost reductions, efficiency and ergonomic improvements in engineering and manufacturing applications.
  • Assist with the preparation of equipment/facility layouts and detailed drawings for improved product flow and process efficiencies.
  • Develop process/procedure standards which will reduce cost and or labor without compromising quality or throughput standards.
  • Propose cost effective designs and to carry out research, design, and development work of the manufacturing process that would include assembly methods, production flow and production equipment.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Implements Lean Manufacturing goals and strategies for improving the operations and processes within the organization.
  • Works with various departments on continuous improvement activities and develops plans to optimize performance, work/material flow and processes.
  • Employs Lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree.
  • Also requires training and Lean certification through an accredited organization.
  • Requires 4 to 7 years of related experience.
  • Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.
  • Work independent and collaborative in nature.
  • Relevant manufacturing / engineering degree is preferred, or HND, BTec Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications.
  • Membership of an industry related professional body would be advantageous.
  • Green Belt Certification or above or equivalent qualification.
  • Background in manufacturing and/or engineering environments.
  • Qualified Trainer is advantageous

  • Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Sit or stand for up to 95 percent of work hours.
  • Periodic visits to the manufacturing facility with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
