Heating and Cooling Products Leading HVAC Manufacturer with state of the art metal fabrication equipment has the following opening:

  • Water Source Heat Pump Product Engineer

Job Summary: The Product Engineer works within the Engineering department as well as outside departments in all things related to the WSHP products. The Product Engineer provides inter-departmental support to Sales, Marketing, Applications, Warranty, Part Sales, and Manufacturing on product-related inquiries and feedback. Within Engineering, the Product Engineer is responsible for coordinating with and supporting various groups in the design of new product and the improvement of current designs, as well as making decisions regarding the product, and creating/maintaining schedules and timelines for current projects. They will maintain and develop all necessary information for AAON's ordering software (Ecat), unit data plates, and agency performance databases

Essential Responsibilities / Activities:

  • Work with engineers and sales personnel to help provide answers to questions or solutions to problems.
  • Understand technical language to ensure compliance to agency requirements (AHRI, DOE, etc.).
  • Perform cost-savings analysis on potential new vendor components.
  • The ability to understand what various components do in the system and what their requirements are.
  • Review marketing/sales material and unit IOMs to maintain and improve accuracy.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Create documentation such as specification sheets and Engineering Change Notices.
  • Provide assistance to internal personnel in properly processing orders.
  • Create, or assist in creating, order processing tools.
  • Stay informed of competitive products and new technology in the water source heat pump (and geothermal) industry.
  • Review product end-of-line rework and field warranty reports to identify opportunities to reduce defects.
  • Travel to job sites or testing facilities to support and/or troubleshoot products. Competitive Compensation Dependent on Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • An individual in this job must have attained a mechanical engineering degree.
  • The individual will have a minimum of 2 years of WSHP industry experience or equivalent experience in a similar industry.
  • The individual will possess a minimum of a medium level of technical knowledge to effectively evaluate and troubleshoot WSHP equipment.
  • Industry certifications including IGSHPA, LEED, AEE, NEBB, and Professional Engineer License are a plus.
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus.

Essential Mental Functions: Proficient in written and spoken English. Excellent interpersonal skills. Must work well alone and on a team. Ability to make engineering decisions based on HVAC system design requirements.

Essential Physical Functions: Lift up to 50lbs. Able to be comfortably seated at a desk for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to climb. Job requires occasional trips to job sites where individual will be subject to heat, cold and dusty/dirty conditions at times.

Equipment or Software Knowledge or Skills: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) General computer knowledge. Note: Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
