Job Description

Position Summary
F5 is looking for an entry level software developer to join our dynamic development team. We are seeking passionate, quality-minded individuals with "can do" attitudes to be part of a team that helps drive the feature set and quality of leading edge network platforms. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with talented architects, hardware development engineers, software engineers and manufacturing partners to design, develop, and maintain F5 products.

- Configure carrier class IP-based network switch/fabric data paths for devices from various silicon vendors.
- Participate in all phases of hardware development (i.e., design, development, hardware bring-up, cross team support, and sustaining).
- Configure hardware acceleration, compression, encryption, and custom FPGA devices (e.g., Altera FPGA, Cavium HW Accelerators).
- Diagnose platform issues by analyzing network and device activity on live systems.
- Contribute to development design documents and functional specifications.
- Work within an experienced and talented development team that values high code quality.

Basic Qualifications
- BS/BA in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience developing and debugging embedded software.
- Knowledge of Linux driver development and debug.
- Experience using C/C++ and a scripting language such as Python.
- Knowledge of Ethernet networking devices and communications protocols.
- Knowledge of various networking L2-L4 protocols (e.g. VLAN, IP, TCP, IPv4, IPv6).
- Excellent analytic and trouble-shooting abilities.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- MS/MA in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with IP-based network devices.
- Experience writing test tools.
- Familiarity with signaling protocols (SerDes, 8b/10b, 64b/68b KR4, XAUI, XLAUI) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of common bus architectures (e.g., PCIe, DMA, I2C).
- Experience developing software using a Linux development environment.
