Job Overview The Web Software Engineer develops software that supports the Human Resources business function. The position is involved with software development lifecycles (design, develop, test, implement, support). On a daily basis the engineer will utilize intermediate to expert level expertise in the following: OO PHP 5.2 MySQL jQuery JSON JavaScript CSS 3 HTML 5 PHP frameworks, such as CodeIgniter, CakePHP or Laravel RESTful Web services XML / XSLT SAML Responsive Design The engineer documents software code, gathers and validates requirements,develops testing scripts and scenarios, and tests code. The engineer participates in SCRUM and Agile development cycles. The incumbent will also perform other related duties. About UCSF Medical Center

The McGrath Laboratory at UCSF is one of the basic science research components of the Hematology-Oncology Department at San Francisco General Hospital, a division of the Department of Medicine with a broad range of patient care, teaching, research and public service responsibilities.  A major program under the McGrath Laboratory is the UCSF AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource (ACSR) program, a human biospecimen bank which was established by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to encourage and facilitate research on HIV-related malignancies through providing biological specimens with associated clinical data and evaluating novel technologies.  The goal of the ACSR is to identify and improve access to tissue, blood and other fluid specimens, as well as to provide baseline and clinical outcome data from individuals HIV-infected and uninfected to researchers in need of biospecimens for their research.
