Job Description

The IT Systems Analyst supports core functions of the hospital's applications systems to enable cost-effective, high quality, efficient, and safe patient care. This position will install, configure, administer and support assigned systems with minimal guidance from senior members of the team. The IT Systems Analyst will have a good understanding of Epic and integration with non-Epic systems.
Essential Functions

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).

Act as second level of support and triages system problems within the department's applications.
Assist in the implementation of medium complexity tools and workflows.
Lead small to medium complexity software upgrade initiatives or enhancements to workflows.
Lead test activities for small to medium complexity new implementation, enhancements or upgrades.
Modify tables/master files, make additions and changes as required.
Implement changes using documented procedures that are compliant with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Take ownership of low to medium complexity issues and act as a liaison between customer and other support staff to facilitate resolution.
Perform role of project manager or project coordinator for small projects.
Work with and mentor Associate Systems Analysts to document workflows.
Assist Senior and Principal Systems Analysts in developing and maintaining requirements/specifications and test cases for new or enhanced functionality to department applications.
Participate in team and cross-team meetings and maintain appropriate meeting records.
Provide ongoing troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of applications; including 24/7 on call coverage as required.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or healthcare administration preferred
Certification in EPIC Resolute PB or HB Claims Administration preferred

Certified in Epic Clarity Reporting preferred

3 or more years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
3 or more years supporting and/or implementing professional and hospital billing claims
Experience in claims EDI transactions, 837, 835, 999/997, 277/276 files - 5010 format
Experience managing Epic patient statement and/or insurance claim file processing

Experience with Epic application upgrade process preferred
Expertise in using Epic's data courier tool for code migration preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to work in server operating systems such as AIX and Windows Server 2003 and 2008.
Mid-level UNIX shell scripting skills.
WinBatch scripting skills.
Mid-level Microsoft Office skills.
Ability to diagnose and resolve routine technology problems.
Ability and desire to learn to resolve specialized and advanced technology problems.
Ability to establish a set of tasks and activities associated with an intended outcome and timeline.
Ability to take action consistent with available facts, constraints, and anticipated consequences.
Ability to use appropriate interpersonal skills to give information to and receive information from coworkers and clients in a tactfully and professional manner.
Ability to use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions and/or reaching conclusions.
Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and interpret results.
Ability to communicate concepts in elegant, concise, eloquent form to management and to cross-functional departments or teams verbally, in writing, and through pictures or diagrams when appropriate.
Knowledge of current issues and trends in health care and clinical operations in a health care system.
Knowledge of Epic Software as well as other information systems, clinical software, and computer applications used in a health care setting.
