Job Description

We are a team of Engineers, Data Scientists and Product Management professionals with a mission to build a suite of software solutions for Walmart eCommerce that enables the business to optimize Weeks Of Supply (WOS) and Inventory Availability.

We are building the foundation of eCommerce Inventory planning - Our solution will be used to replenish inventory for hundreds of thousands of items worth tens of billions of Dollars each year. The solution utilizes sophisticated dynamic stocking algorithms to provide the replenishment recommendations, a workflow that emulates the business process and an intuitive user interface built on top of latest and scalable web frameworks such as Rails, Angular JS, Twitter Bootstrap etc. Our business stakeholders - eCommerce Merchandise Planning and Supply Chain Operations - collaborate with us in a fast-paced and highly iterative development environment and provide the feedback needed to build an outstanding leading-edge product.

As an intern you will not only work on the most challenging problems in computer science and operations research but will also have an unparalleled opportunity to impact the lives of over one billion Walmart customers.

Whether you are playing a pickup basketball or ping pong game, going to the San Francisco Giants games, or taking an intern-only catamaran cruise around the San Francisco, there is always something going on. With the San Francisco Bay Area as your playground the opportunities both inside and outside of work are endless!

THIS IS A SUMMER 2014 Position. Minimum Qualifications Who are we looking for?

Smart students who are out to change the world!

- MS/PhD in Operations Research/Statistics/Computer Science or another highly quantitative discipline.

- Familiarity with optimization algorithms for network flow problems and linear programming. Knowledge in integer programming techniques a plus.

- Good knowledge in statistical and machine learning techniques, such as regression, clustering, and classification.

- Hands on experience in R or Python and the machine learning and scientific computing packages associated them.

- Programming experience in one of the languages such as Python/Ruby/Perl/Shell/C/Java

- Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL. Additional Preferred Qualifications Product Managers

- Master's in Business or Info Systems or equivalent with a BA/BS in Engineering/CS/EE or a related technical discipline,

- Excellent data analysis skills along with expert level experience with Excel, R, scripting and SQL

- Excellent written and oral communication skills along with strong desire to work in cross functional teams

- Strong sense of retail psychology, user experience and uncompromising commitment to serving the customer
