Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of machine learning, user modeling and information retrieval will be a big plus. So will a proven track record of innovation and shipping high quality software services at scale.
Roles & Responsibilities:
*Working with engineering teams to co-develop a research agenda to improve personalized search
*Establishing priorities and the tactical plan for implementing this strategy
*Using research and software skills to implement a prototype and report quantitative performance metrics
*Working with engineering teams to productize the prototype, experiment and iterate in production
*Participate in and contribute to technical discussions
*A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Math or EE; PhD in relevant field
*3+ years of software development and applied research experience
*Extensive knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas: information retrieval, data mining, web mining, machine learning, statistics, parallel and distributed computation (two or more areas are preferred)
*Experience with C#, C++ or Java
*Superior communications skills, both verbal and written.
*PhD in CS/EE with specialization in the field of Information Retrieval, User Modeling, Data Mining, or Machine Learning preferred
*Prior experience with web search or personalization is preferred.
* Strong theory, algorithm background and very good understanding on how to apply advanced knowledge to solve real problems.
*Experience with various data analysis tools, data mining tools, and statistical packages.
*Strong track record of publications in major conferences and/or journals
* Internships and 3+ years post-doctorate study at research or industrial labs or equivalent
