Job Description

Hewlett-Packard's Software Web Platform Team is responsible for the creation and delivery of HPConnected.com and other core back end services. This web site, in addition to being the front end to a powerful PAS (Platform As a Service), is becoming a hub hosting a wide array of innovative services offered to HP customers. These include support for HP's growing line of devices (including web connected printers) as well as cloud based services. We are looking for an experienced software engineers to join our highly talented and committed team. The successful candidate must show these key strengths: capable of creating solutions and solving problems independently and end-to-end; great, open, enthusiastic coworker and team player; strong proactivity in all situations; unafraid of dealing with problems, whatever their nature and scope; knows how to keep track, follow up and reach out to get information; curious and playing with technologies. The software engineer will need to be flexible in working with various technologies (e.g. Java, Python, Tomcat, MySQL, etc). This role requires a close working relationship with devops teams and cloud services. Responsibilities

Develop enterprise level software that is designed for five nine uptime, security, rolling deployments, enterprise logging/troubleshooting, scaling, clustering, etc.
Provide support for DevOps organization in designing and deploying software services.
Consume REST services.
Produce API documentation.
Provide technical support and guidance for post release, production systems.
Use standards, methodologies, tools adopted by the larger group.

B.S. C.S. or other technical undergraduate or graduate degree.
Required Experience and Skills:

Familiarity and desire to develop enterprise level applications in Python and Java.
Familiarity with highly scalable, high availability solutions.
Familiar with Linux/SQL stacks and tools.
Ability to work under tight time constraints with dynamic requirements.
Solid communication skills with distributed teams whose code is being supported.
Familiarity with working in an Agile team following the full Scrum process.
Familiarity with RESTful interfaces.
Desired Experience and Skills:

Familiarity with consuming 3rd party APIs is a plus
Familiarity with Maven, Splunk, SVN, GIT is a plus
Familiarity with high traffic/volume website operations is a plus
Familiarity with load management, metrics, etc.
