The "Platform Engineer Intern" will work on the building blocks used by the rest of the engineering organization to create our next generation of products. Specific responsibilities include:
Implementation and support of various aspects of core infrastructure (e.g. Data Access Layer, Messaging, Search, Cache etc)
Work with Dev., QA and automation teams to create a performance test harnesses as well as learn and tune platform components including tuning of JVM and application profiling
Create monitoring & governance frameworks to be applied across technology platform
Participate in code and design reviews.
Work diligently to improve/maintain the quality of the code base.
A key area of focus will be on supporting/extending/enhancing/evolving our search infrastructure; this is at the heart of our "finding" experience and drives much of the dynamic adds that you see for StubHub around the web.
Participate in core technology projects and improve quality of code as appropriate. Job Requirements
Object oriented analysis and design
Solid Java experience including multithreading, network (client/server) programming, application monitoring and management.
Good understanding of distributed computing technologies (for ex., distributed cache, messaging/notification frameworks, session management)
Experience with Map/Reduce technologies like Hadoop, HDFS etc not required but strong pluses.
Any exposure to Web Services (SOA) design and implementation also plus.
Education Masters Degree or Equivalent
