Hardware Engineer Co-Op (Jan - June 2014) The Hardware Engineering organization develops the Hardware Platforms used across all of EMC's products. Under the direction of the Hardware Engineering Staff, the Hardware Co-Op will perform a wide range of general support activities required as part of the tasks required to deliver on the Hardware Platform roadmap. **EMC sponsors 2 unique Co-Op opportunities. The dates run from either January - June or July to December. For this role a Candidate must be available to work 40 hours per week from January - June 2014. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: - Performs general support activities which can include gathering and analyzing lab test results, report writing, generating documentation, managing documents stored in the Engineering Electronic vaults (eRoom), material tracking, or any other typical engineering support activity required as part of the normal day to day activities required to design, test and release the Hardware Platforms. - Works as assigned on projects under the direction of a senior Hardware staff member and performs tasks such as research, development, testing (generating tests, recording results, and generating reports), creation of required project documentation and general lab support activities. - Compiles and analyzes data from a variety of sources and may prepare reports. Demonstrates a level of proficiency on all Microsoft Office applications. May analyze and interpret data while preparing information for presentation to management. Essential Knowledge/Skills: - Proficiency in hardware, software and/or operating systems environments. - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) - Ability to build, repair or prepare assemblies across EMC's product line. - Ability to analyze information and draw accurate conclusions. - Excellent communication skills and problem solving skills. - General knowledge and application of engineering concepts. - Familiarity with: Linux, Networking, C/C++, Python, PERL, embedded processor and IO systems. Education: - Candidate working toward a Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science degree program.
