Adaptive Methods, www.adaptivemethods.com, headquartered in Virginia with offices in Maryland, Florida, Washington and Rhode Island, is a developer of advanced sensor processing and computing architecture products for surveillance, security and military combat systems. We are a privately-owned defense contractor, which, in partnership with the federal government, addresses critical U.S. Navy Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) needs.

Applicants selected for employment will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, for access to sensitive information.

Internship position in software development needed to perform a variety of tasks including software design, development, maintenance and testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

Software design, development, research, and testing to support Mission Systems products.
Updating bug tracking software to summarize design and status, code documentation and user manuals.


Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred.
Hands on experience with Java and Linux.
Must be able to work independently or with a team.
Ability to communicate technical solutions to project management and development team.
Good verbal and written communications skills.


2+ years of hands on experience with Linux and Java.
Other software language exposure desirable, including C++ and C.
Knowledge of bash, SQL, and XML a bonus.
