Location and Team
KEMA Inc.'s Sustainable Use Consulting group is seeking a data savvy energy analyst with demonstrated analytical thinking, problem solving, and programming skills to join our Oakland team. The successful candidate will have a passion for delving into complex, varied, and sometimes messy data.
Tasks may include:
Explore, manipulate and perform quality control on a wide variety of energy data and analyses. Review for quality, analyze and document the content and structure of data from a variety sources, including but not limited to energy efficiency program data, billing data, survey data, energy usage data, interval load data, demographic data and weather data. Apply existing routines and develop new routines for data loading and cleaning. Troubleshoot issues with data import and export routines and with the resulting datasets. Enhance existing SAS code and develop new code to achieve desired results. Design and develop code to implement automated approaches for data handling and quality review tasks. Develop expertise in energy efficiency data for specific programs and respond to data requests. Extract and merge data from multiple sources, review data to assess quality, and identify data gaps. Specify data needs in written data requests and follow up to ensure high quality data are available for analyses. Learn and apply existing protocols and methods to derive defensible estimates of energy savings. Recommend and develop new methods when appropriate. Document and report analysis results clearly and concisely, including presenting data in graphs and charts, describing approaches used to derive results, and interpreting the results.
What we're asking
Bachelor's degree in computer science, operations research, engineering, economics, social sciences, or related field Experience with one or more programming languages Experience with SAS, SPSS, R or related programming languages preferred Experience working with large data sets Experience with SQL and relational databases preferred Demonstrated quantitative, analytical thinking and problem solving skills and attention to detail Understanding of statistics, including the ability to describe data and perform linear regression Able to manage own time and workload effectively with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and to meet deadlines Strong written and verbal English communication skills Experience with energy efficiency and demand side management (DSM) programs preferred Willingness and ability to successfully pass a background check Willingness and ability to travel occasionally What we're offering
