Overview

We are currently seeking candidates for a Lead Software Engineer position in our San Mateo, California office.

Responsibilities

OCLC is seeking an exceptional front end developer who specializes in web application design and user interface architecture. The position is responsible for developing key UI infrastructure components of a global internet library management solution using YUI and an internally developed framework that is like Angular. Additionally, the position is responsible for contributing to technical architecture, technical management, code development and review, application maintenance and application enhancements and requires extensive knowledge of both front-end and back-end systems.
Designs, codes, and tests multiple modules of a system in a timely manner
Contributes to a common user interface toolkit used by global teams
Collaborates with Product Analysts, UI/UX Designers, Architects, Engineers, and other stakeholders.
Participates in major architectural reviews and plans.
Develops both front-end and back-end systems.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you should --
Have excellent written, verbal and visual communicator who focuses on outcomes.
Be able to collaborate and communicate with globally dispersed teams.
Possess expert level competencies with YUI.
Be extremely well versed in MVC/MVP design patterns.
Be very well organized and detail oriented.
Be a strong multi-tasker and problem-solver.
Have architected and developed highly dynamic, interactive interfaces for "web 2.0" sites.
Possess expert level competencies with accessible XHTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, and cross-browser compatibility issues and degradation strategies.
Possess a very strong background in OOP, server-side business logic, design patterns, web services, XML and relational databases is a plus.

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:

5+ years of experience developing dynamic, highly interactive user interfaces for web applications.
5+ years of JavaScript and Java development required.
Experience with front-end (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript), and backend Java processes.
Proficiency in YUI is a must. Knowledge of other JS toolkits would be a plus.
Experience with Angular is strongly desired
Experience with cross-platform, cross-browser strategies and graceful degradation.
Bachelor of Science, Computer Science is a plus.
Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work well in a team working to agile software development practices.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and deliver production of quality software within tight schedules
