The New Product Introduction engineer is a senior position concentrating on the next generation of F5 products. This position requires strong product and customer deployment knowledge. The NPIE exhibits technical sales ability, high level network engineering knowledge, and knowledge of enterprise architectures and business processes. Because of their close working relationship with product development NPIEs have extensive knowledge of software development processes and development lifecycles. NPIEs spend about 75% of their time interacting with product development issues and 25% of their time on customer facing issues and departmental projects.
Manage projects of any complexity with minimal need for supervision or assistance.
Receive internal and external customer requests to be converted into product requirements.
Provide customer and support related feedback into the product development cycle.
Produce internal training on new products and features.
Work with Product Development and Product Management to ensure product roadmaps conform to customer and support needs.
Manage and conduct analysis of hardware and software related failures of F5 products.
Direct interaction with Product Development group on behalf of all external organizations and customers.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Ability to function as an individual contributor to long term software development projects.
Experience with product development lifecycle planning, user stories, requirements processes and software development management
Expert technical knowledge of applicable applications, protocols and network devices (routers, switches, filers etc)
Demonstrate experience and expert-level knowledge with complex enterprise architectures.
Advanced knowledge of F5 products and multi-tiered architectures including testing and reproduction.
Scripting and programming experience including at minimum PERL and C experience.
Strong leadership and presentation skills, both oral and written, with the ability to articulate and educate other engineers and customers about complex technology in a simple way.
Ability to lead projects exhibiting complicated technical and political situations for enterprise class customers.
Minimum 8 + years relevant work experience in enterprise level environments.
Undergraduate Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience. Post-graduate degree a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material. Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 10% of the time spent traveling.
