Leap is Fidelity Investments' exciting training and development program for new IT graduates. The program is designed to accelerate the development of recent IT graduates to become best-in-class software developers, systems analysts, quality assurance engineers, mainframe developers or infrastructure engineers. Participants in Leap will benefit from an enriched on-boarding program followed by specific technology, business and professional skills training. The training promises to challenge and excite you with responsibility and visibility. Opportunities for Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 graduates exist in the following locations:

Raleigh/Durham, NC

Westlake/Irving, TX

New England

Covington, KY

Salt Lake City, UT

New York/New Jersey

The Software Development, Systems Analysis and Quality Assurance tracks include 3 months of technical/professional/business training, followed by a 3 month technical project assignment sponsored by a business unit. Participants will design, develop and test innovative software solutions core to the firm's ability to provide the best products and services to our customers.

The Mainframe Development track includes 10 weeks of technical, professional and business training. Participants will learn a variety of technologies in the areas of mainframe development including: COBOL, TSO, JCL, DB2, VSAM and DB2 stored procedures.

The Technology Infrastructure & Engineering (TIE) track includes 7 weeks of on-boarding, networking, technical and professional development training. Upon completion of the program, participants are placed in Network/Systems Engineering and Systems Administration/Support roles to evaluate, test and implement technology solutions core to the firm's ability to provide the best products and services to our customers.

Software Development Track

Participants engaged in the traditional Software Development track will acquire knowledge and experience in the areas of:

Software Development Life-Cycle - focused on Agile, systems analysis, design, development, testing and support of software applications

OO Development using Java/J2EE, .NET, C#, UML and XML

Web application development using Apache Tomcat server, Web Services and Open Source technologies (Spring Framework, iBatis ORM)

Rich application development with Silverlight and Ajax

Database Development using Oracle, SQL and PL/SQL

Quality Assurance - Unit Testing and System Integration Testing

Security - Information Security, Secure Application Development

Systems Engineering using Unix

Systems Analysis Track

Participants engaged in the Systems Analysis track will acquire knowledge and experience in the areas of:

Business knowledge acquisition and application to IT projects

Software Development Life-Cycle - focused on Agile, business analysis and requirements gathering, project management, quality assurance and testing, support for design and development

Business process and use case modeling

User interface design

Object-oriented design using UML

Software development basics including HTML and XML

SQL and PL/SQL

Security - Information Security, Secure Application Development

Quality Assurance Track

Participants engaged in the Quality Assurance track will acquire knowledge and experience in the areas of:

Business knowledge acquisition and application to IT projects

Software Development Life-Cycle - focused on Agile, business analysis and requirements gathering, project management, quality assurance and testing, support for design and development

Business process and use case modeling

User interface design

Object-oriented design using UML

Software development basics including HTML and XML

SQL and PL/SQL

Security - information security, secure application development

Project Management for Quality Assurance

Test planning basics including test coverage, mapping of requirements to test cases and end-to-end traceability

Test Case preparation - user scenarios, manual test cases and creation or mining of data

Mainframe Development Track

Mainframe Developers analyze and develop enhancements critical to Fidelity's business. Participants will learn a variety of technologies in the areas of mainframe development including:

Mainframe development and support using COBOL, TSO, DB2, VSAM, JCL and DB2 Stored Procedures

Mainframe applications

Gathering and documenting system requirements

Fidelity coding standards

Documenting all application changes and enhancements

Technology Infrastructure and Engineering Track

Participants engaged in the Infrastructure Technology Engineering track will gain exposure to the following:

System Architectures & Administration (Windows, Linux, Unix)

Virtualization Technologies (VMware, Citrix)

Clustering Technologies

Database Technologies (SQL/Oracle)

Scripting Languages (Shell, Perl, PowerShell)

Network Protocols & Design

Storage Architectures & Management Tools

Middleware and Mainframe Technologies

ITIL Service Center Certification

Education and Experience

BS degree in Computer Science/Computer and/or Systems Engineering, IT type major or other major with a technical minor/concentration

Prior technology-related internship experience is preferred

Hands-on technical experience in application development, databases and/or networking

Skills and Knowledge

Understanding of Relational Databases (Software Development, Systems Analysis, and Quality Assurance)

Understanding Software Development Lifecycle & OO programming concepts (Java, C or C#) (Software Development, Systems Analysis, and Quality Assurance)

Basic Java language skills or foundations of OO design (Software Development, Systems Analysis, and Quality Assurance)

Experience with relational DB access, SOAP or web services in Java a plus (Software Development, Systems Analysis, and Quality Assurance)

Hardware and software troubleshooting skills (Technology Infrastructure & Engineering)

Understanding of network support tools, technical architecture and internet connectivity (Technology Infrastructure & Engineering)

Interest in the financial services industry

Creative thinking and problem-solving skills

Strong communication skills
