Supplemental Questions

Application review starts when application is received. The Web Application Develop er is a member of the development team in the Information Technology department. This position follows established work methods and procedures to complete tasks on computers and/or applications, support products, projects, or databases. Performs standard responsibilities such as consulting with customers to identify and analyze technology needs and problems; responding to and resolving trouble reports from users; analyzing application problems and solving them with no or little assistance; supporting and enhancing existing applications in compliance with specifications and standards ; conducting unit, system or usability testing; writing specifications and developing reports; developing and conducting application, software and/or system operation training for users; or serving as part of a problem solving team addressing more complex issues.

Position Responsibilities:

Assist in the development and maintenance of custom applications in a combination of .NET platform languages, following established work policies and procedures Assist in the development, maintenance, and integration tasks of databases in SQL Server Assist in integration and research tasks as assigned in the wake of the upcoming state-wide ERP implementation Assist in decisions concerning databases and security of college data in both internal applications and integration with third party systems Author and execute work flow and testing plans for custom applications Work effectively in an environment with a team of other developers Communicate effectively with users as necessary as a part of requirements gathering, prototyping, testing, and release development phases Be Customer Service oriented: communicate effectively with customers in the contexts of application troubleshooting, enhancement or bug reports, data source / connectivity, etc.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience 3 years experience programming and implementing web applications in C# / VB / ASP.NET in the Windows environment (IIS) 3 years experience in SQL Server, including T-SQL, ADO.NET, SSIS, and knowledge of database objects 3 years experience in web design technologies, including but not limited to: CSS, javascript / jQuery, XML and related web service document formats Experienced in direct customer interaction during all phases of the software development life cycle Experience in Windows integration, such as Active Directory via LDAP and PowerShell scripting Experience in application development and support for multiple major browsers, particularly Internet Explorer, Mozilla FireFox, and Google Chrome Experience in integration focused projects Demonstrated successful time management and multitasking experience Excellent analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Experience managing multiple competing work tasks 1 year of experience with SSRS Strong knowledge of work flow / use case analysis and database architectural design PREFERR ED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of the Washington State Community and Technical College System's internal data formats SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL ALSO HAVE THE ABILITY TO: Work effectively in an environment with a team of other developers Communicate effectively with users as necessary as a part of requirements gathering, prototyping, testing, and release development phases Be customer service oriented: communicate effectively with customers in the contexts of application troubleshooting, enhancement or bug reports, data source / connectivity, etc. WORKING CONDITIONS Must have the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk / computer workstation Frequent repetitive arm, hand, and finger motions Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screen in performing work assignments Work in a semi-open office setting with frequent interruptions. Be available for non-scheduled after hours support of software May need to carry, lift or move equipment up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs

About Green River Community College

The Washington State Center of Excellence for Careers in Education, housed at Green River Community College, provides: innovative programs for future educators; support, mentoring, and advising to community colleges and their K-20 partners for the creation and expansion of career-ladder programs in education; and in-service training for current education professionals. Green River is nationally recognized as a leader in innovative community college programs for future educators, particularly for Project TEACH, which has provided outstanding advice, activities and curriculum for future teachers since 1998.
