Job Description

Kindle Education team launched "X-Ray for Textbooks" on Kindle Fire and the Kindle App for iPad. X-Ray allows students to focus on important concepts while reading a Kindle textbook. The textbook-supplied definitions of these concepts, as well as supporting articles and videos from the web are instantly available to students through this feature to further their learning. Watch Jeff Bezos demo it: http://tinyurl.com/Jeff-Bezos-X-Ray-for-Textbooks .

This was just the beginning... We need you to help us make this product even better.

If you are an experienced software development engineer in test who is interested in using machine learning, natural language processing, and open information extraction to solve really hard problems, then you should consider joining our world class engineering team and help us define the future of education technology through extraordinary innovation.

The Kindle Enterprise team shipped Whispercast, a free online tool that helps schools and businesses manage its Kindles and procure and distribute Kindle content and documents. Here we are in the early stages of making great user experiences for people in the work environment and in schools.

We work in a fun, fast-paced dynamic team environment. As an SDET, you will develop, execute, and maintain software to test the product. SDETs at Amazon are expected to have industry-leading technical abilities that enable them to significantly improve product quality. You should have a combination of solid in-depth knowledge of Quality Assurance, computer science principles, as well as knowledge of how to architect software for maximum scalability and maintainability.

Join the team that owns QA for Kindles in Education and Businesses.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical field. 3+ years of experience as a developer or SDET. 3+ years of expertise in an object oriented programming language. Proficient in an object oriented programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

Kindle and Amazon are impacting the world with new technology that comes out at a rapid pace. You can help define that future with us.

We are looking for the unique combination of development skills and passion for testing. But unlike other SDET jobs we need you to be innovative, have an entrepreneur's approach and use creative solutions with the work you do on a daily basis.

The Kindle team is revolutionizing the way students and workers in business can use Kindle tablets and as a result you will be expected to work with the Kindle Fire Platform and App teams to automate functional, performance and fluidity testing. You will be also expected to run Functional, Performance and Stress testing on the back end services. Additionally you will be part of a team that is creating tools for optimizing the testing we are currently doing. This is part of a major culture shift towards upstream testing, tests integrated with build tools and working with development teams dedicated to quality software. There is a need for this SDET to be confident in their ability to architect and code solutions that the group can use for years to come.

Bring your creative mind and help us create great experiences for the next generation.

Company History

Our founder Jeff Bezos established Amazon in his home garage in 1994. Today, Amazon is a Fortune 500 company with seven global websites that offer customers an expanding selection of tens of millions of products across categories ranging from books and music to apparel and home electronics. When Bezos said that “we are a company of builders,” he really meant it. And it’s just as evident today.

While the benefits may vary slightly from location to location, these are the basics for full-time, U.S. employees:
  • Health Care
  • Time Off
