This position is for a candidate with 5+ years of experience who will join the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Firmware Development organization. Responsibilities include providing project management to deliver embedded systems firmware for next-generation enterprise storage products with SAS and SATA host interfaces. This individual will be responsible for planning and tracking firmware feature development and testing, managing risks and dependencies, and communicating regularly with other functional teams and program management. As the project lead, the individual will also be focused on providing a quality firmware deliverable that meets the expectations of both the program team, as well as the customer. In addition, the individual is expected to recognize areas for continuous improvement, and drive process changes using Lean Software Development practices. Knowledge of software development, system architectures, HDD host interfaces, and experience and/or knowledge of structured design processes is desirable.
The ideal candidate will have a BS &/or MS Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, with a focus on firmware project management. Excellent communication skills are required to interface within the team, across various engineering disciplines, and across multiple sites. The candidate will work in a small, fast-paced, multi-site team, so strong teamwork and proactive communication are fundamental to success.
- MS/BSEE, MS/BSCE, or MS/BSCS with 5+ years experience
- Software development/test background with system emphasis.
- Demonstrated team leadership and project management skills.
- Strong knowledge of structured code development methods
- Ability to solve problems as part of multi-site organization and cross functional team
- Ability to meet and communicate with development executives and management to present status, plans, and actions to meet HDD product requirements.
- Ability to provide accurate and timely scheduling and resource information to team leads and managers, and meet scheduled commitments
