Job Description

Insitu Overview:

Insitu is a leading high-tech autonomous systems company driven by a culture of agility and systematic improvement . Since 1994 Insitu has led in the design, development and production of small autonomous aircraft for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). We currently produce and sell an ever growing fleet of Unmanned Aircraft Systems that are low-cost, long-endurance, and have low personnel requirements. These UASs provide a no-runway launch, unprecedented stabilized day and night video for ISR, robotic flight control, and a no-nets capture.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Individual will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing algorithms (SW and HW) on a small UAV, for real-time operations for multi-sensor fusion advanced nonlinear estimation where several of the sensors are image related data.

Designs, develops, tests, and evaluates software and systems across the complete software design/development spectrum. Analyzes software requirements and determines operational feasibility and design approach. Establishes software design elements to include documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams and charts. Designs algorithms and system interfaces.
Develops and maintains code. Integrates software components into an operational system. Evaluates software implementation for consistency against development standards. Performs defect evaluation and root cause analysis. Determines resolution and takes corrective action.

Knowledge - Skills & Abilities Required:

Must be actively developing signal processing algorithms to include both HW and SW.
Must be fluent in C++, Matlab and HW design principles - especially as they relate to high speed memory transfer and manipulation.
Must have direct experience in both probability theory and how it relates to concepts such as power spectral densities, ARMA and ARIMA processes as well as the ability to physically implement such capabilities.
GPU and/or Firmware (FPGS) experience a plus, but not a substitute for complex understanding of probabilistic signal processing.
Preferred candidate will have completed graduate level coursework in signal processing.

Education:

Bachelor's degree of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. Typical experience: 5-8 years in an engineering classification with a Bachelor's degree or 3-6 years experience in an engineering classification with a Master's degree.

About Insitu, Inc.

Founded in 1994, Insitu, Inc. is a pioneer developer of long-range, unmanned, autonomous aircraft. To measure in situ means to measure in place, and is frequently used in environmental resource monitoring. Today, Insitu continues to develop innovative unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), unmanned aircraft (UA), ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) tools, communications relay technology, and meteorology and geophysical measurement tools for both commercial and military purposes. Practical applications of the technology include military reconnaissance, the creation of internet networks in remote areas, border patrol, coastal monitoring, anti-sniper systems, environmental monitoring, search and rescue, and disaster relief. Insitu prides itself on maintaining the agility and innovative problem-solving that have marked its short, but brilliant, history even as it grows to a 200+ employee, multi-facility operation. A timeline of some of our more outstanding achievements: 2007 June 7 Boeing Australia Limited is awarded an AUD$20 million contract to provide ScanEagle ISR services to the Australian Army in Afghanistan April Insitu reaches a record of 14,000 hours flown since the beginning of the year.
