The HP Networking R&D STC (Solutions Test Center) organization is seeking top engineering talent to lead one of the most promising and innovating technologies in years. SDN (Software Defined Networks) is the next generation technology for network virtualization allowing a network administrator to use different vendor infrastructure by making networks externally programmable. We are looking for technical engineers with a passion in learning new things to join our HPN (Hewlett-Packard Networking) Team.
This position will be directly responsible for the design, development, and execution of HPN SDN Solutions. This particular function owns the technical leadership of and SDN project from early research, to test plan development, test execution, debug analysis, fix/enhancement recommendations, white papers, and technical content delivery to internal teams and customers. You will contribute to the SDN professional communities by analyzing customer use case models, customer requirements and key technology issues in high performance virtualized SDN environments. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a newly created and rapidly growing technology.
This position will be located at our HP Roseville and or Palo Alto CA engineering labs facility. Travel is estimated at 1-4 weeks throughout the year for training, customer engagements etc…
Specific responsibilities include:
Development of lab tests, debug analysis, documenting the design and results in forms of a research presentation or technical white paper supporting SDN solutions.
Clearly define test requirements, risks, and schedules by minimizing required associated program change requests.
Build ongoing technical relationships within many of the HP engineering teams in Software, Hardware, and Virtualization, as well as Marketing, Sales and Support.
Team technical contributor for HPN SDN Products (OpenFlow Protocol, Controllers, vSwitch, OpenStack, and other cloud computing technologies.)
Competitive Analysis and understanding of SDN portfolio.
Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development.
Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
Agile testing engagement and overall software systems leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities
Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the software systems design organization.
Provides guidance and mentoring to entry level staff members
- Education - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or minimum of 5 years of related equivalent experience. - US Citizen or Permanent Resident with ability for occasional international travel
Ideal candidate must be willing to work in a technically challenging environment, with minimal direction and support.
Must have some familiarity with:
Cloud Server, Storage and Networking systems
Hypervisors: KVM, VMware, Xen, Hyper-V and others
Linux Administration capabilities
Python, TCL, Puppet experience
OpenStack design and architecture
Cisco ONE (Open Network Environment)
Networking Concepts & Protocols (Ethernet/Ipv4/6/Multicast/RIP/OSPF/BGP)
OpenFlow projects and tools such as NOX and Beacon
Data Plane and Control Plane Traffic
This position requires the ability to quickly develop expertise in the latest technology trends. As technology changes it is essential that our testing and solutions remain on the leading edge. It also requires the following non-technical skills:
Very strong ability to communicate technical content to engineering, senior management, account teams and customers
Clear understanding and history of Agile and Waterfall Methodologies
Strong organizational skills, ability to coordinate, prioritize and schedule multiple tasks.
