GE"s global software headquarter, the new Software Center of Excellence (SWCOE) located in the San Ramon, CA, USA focus on the development of innovative software that connects users to the machines and systems that move their business and industries.

Our new Collaboration and Mobile Innovation Lab under GE Global Research and SWCOE, is committed to the invention, development, and application of device agnostic visualization, collaboration and analytics aware software solutions to deliver benefits to GE Field Services, Systems and Operation Centers spanning Aviation, Transportation, Energy and Healthcare businesses. Our core disciplines are Computer Science, Real time communication and Collaboration, Human Computer Interaction, Collaborative Computing, Enterprise Social Networks, Mobile Application Platforms, Multi modal natural user interfaces, M2M Networks and related applications.

Our internship program in the Collaboration and Mobile Innovation Lab is looking for graduate level students who will work for a minimum of 3months with our scientists, designers, and engineers to help creating experiences across multiple GE software initiatives. The interns will work hands-on to design and develop the next generation of Collaboration, Industrial Knowledge Network, Visualization and Mobile platform and application primitives to make impact to GE's field services, operation centers that will further define GE's brand. The ideal candidate will leverage their years of Collaboration, Mobile, Communication networks, Social and Knowledge network research, design or system development experience with deep understanding of system integration to define next generation of collaboration enabling tools for GE. The interns will be a working in a dynamic, fast-paced global team.

Must be currently in a MS or PhD program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related disciplines Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. Desired Characteristics

Having an outstanding portfolio to demonstrate proficiency and prior project/product experience in mobility aware communication and collaboration solutions and knowledge networks for web, and/or mobile applications

Experience in designing systems for mobile devices, multimodal UI, interactive & multi-dimensional information visualization, and/or multi-user communication and collaboration is highly desired

Demonstrated experience and strong skills in at least one of the following areas -

Java, C++, Objective C, JavaScript, HTML5 and related web frameworks and backend technologies with sound fundamentals in Computer Science

Experience in programming/building collaboration and communication environment building blocks (e.g. Presence, voice/video communication, document/image sharing, Maps, enterprise social networks, mobile enterprise application platforms, visualization and natural user interfaces ) to translate design concepts into interactive working prototypes

Outstanding written and/or graphical communication skills
