Job Description

This position is for a Software Programmer to develop & support the company's commercial applications. The candidate must be a self-motivated, team player with strong interpersonal communication skills & able to interface with the customers to understand their processes & requirements (reqs) & be able to translate a set of reqs into computer source code using the software tools provided on a Windows platform. This position is located in the Agency Commercial Systems organization within the IT department.
Position Requirements:
' 10+ years experience ' Computer Technology is required.
' Undergraduate, Graduate or Post-Graduate College Degree ' Computer Technology or related field.
' Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) is preferred.
' 10+ years of demonstrated applications design & development experience with at least 5 years in ASP .NET programming using MS Visual C#, & MS SQL Server (2005 or greater) or Oracle (9i or greater) is required
' Proficient in MS Office 2010 Suite of products, MS Team Foundation Server, & MS Visual Studio 2008 or greater is required.
' Expert knowledge of ASP .NET, C#, & JavaScript.
' Proficient in ASP, HTML, CSS, & XML.
' Experienced in usability standards & guidelines, development of business logic, & data access layers using C#, ASP .NET, JavaScript & SQL server programming is required.
' Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot application & database problems in applications written in ASP.NET & C# using SQL data is required.
' Experience performing analysis, design, development, & testing project tasks, & analysis & resolution of maintenance issues.
' Proficient in graphical user interface design & usability.
' Technical documentation & communication skills sufficient to perform knowledge transfer to fellow programmers once the application is completed & deployed to production.
' Proficient in developing well-tuned, complex SQL & stored procedures for Oracle or SQL Server.
The following reqs are desirable:
' Knowledge of the utility industry.
' Experience with custom .NET web development.
' Knowledge of system performance & tuning.
' Experience with a version control system, preferably MS Team Foundation Server (TFS).
' Experience with Crystal Reports XI or 2008.
' Knowledge of database design & modeling.
' Experience with Agile methodologies & with all phases of SDLC including maintenance.
Additional Requirements:
' Ability to provide on-call & backup support for existing systems & functions. May be required to carry a supplied cell phone/pager & work non-core hours when requested.
' Carry out assigned tasks with a professional demeanor reflected in excellent written & oral communication skills, listening skills, patience, analytical reasoning & problem solving abilities.
' Communicate technical info verbally & in writing to technical & non-technical users.
' Provide a sustainable IT infrastructure by supplying cross training & functional documentation.
' Analyze, test, & apply changes to the application environment under the prevailing change management procedures & reqs.
' Keep abreast of technology advances, upgrades & best practices.
