1.0 Position Summary: State briefly, in one or two sentences, the principal purpose, goal(s) of the position and its major objective(s) . Why does the position exist? What must it accomplish? How much supervision is required
Responsible for the research, development, and application of software/hardware as it relates to new and existing products. As required, this position may encompass the following steps of the product life cycle: specification, design, implementation, testing, release, and manufacturing support. Works under moderate supervision.
2.0 Essential Functions: In order of priority, list a series of brief statements (approx. 6-8) which describe the primary functions or key activities for which the position is accountable . Include scope, regularity of independent decision making and supervisory responsibilities , if any.
Research and develop new parts and products to be useful for the company.
Work with Product Management in the various stages of product development, as required:
Research new parts and technologies.
Develop technical specifications for products.
Develop electrical specification for products.
Develop software specification for products.
Develop test specification for products.
Assist with development of an operations manual, if applicable.
Design & Develop electrical assemblies for products according to the electrical specification.
h. Design & Develop of software for electrical assemblies for products according to the technical, software, and test specifications.
Work with Document Control to create a document package that completely specifies the design and implementation of a product.
Work with Purchasing and Manufacturing to handle continuing engineering on existing products and processes as requested through the Engineering Change Request (ECR) program.
Develop application systems. This include preparing requirement specifications, analysis, design, coding, implementation and test components of application as assigned and according to defined application requirements.
Write efficient code for complex programming assignments.
Develop comprehensive test data, conduct independent units tests and assists in system testing and documentation.
Prepare Statements of Work, Project Plans, and follow through with problem in a timely manner.
3.0 Additional Responsibilities: List secondary functions (approx. 2-4) for which this position is accountable.
Assist in development of product manuals.
Ensure Leviton ISO Standard and policies are adhered to.
Inform management on a regular basis on the status of assigned projects and activities.
Stay current on latest technologies as it relates to Software Development and actively see educational experience to better ones knowledge.

4.0 Education, Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Experience: Describe the combination of education, knowledge, skills, training, and experience necessary to perform the Essential Functions listed above. What is the minimum level of formal education or equivalent training required? What prior experience is needed and how much is required to qualify as a candidate ? What is the desired level of education, knowledge, skills, training and experience? Be specific.
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Computer Science or other Engineering related field.
2. Min 4 years embedded hardware & software engineering, design & development experience.
3. Familiarity with industry practices and tools in the implementation of embedded hardware and software technology.
4. Excellent technical documentation skills.
5. Excellent communication skills.
6. Excellent organizational skills with a keen focus to detail.
7. Understanding of electrical safety.
