The Imaging and Printing IT team actively contributes to one of HP's top businesses - Inkjet printing. Our organization is deeply involved in R&D, silicon fab, and product manufacturing. We provide applications, data systems, and reports to support many aspects of this business.
This engineer/analyst position has a primary responsibility for enabling the business to access their data either through standard SSRS, QlikView, or Spotfire reports, or through ad-hoc SQL queries. Additionally this position may also be asked to take responsibility for databases or software applications that support the business.
In this role, the engineer/analyst will engage manufacturing and R&D business users in report writing, data validation, and analytical efforts via corporately sponsored projects or production support requests. This critical role requires a thorough, detailed, creative, diligent, and sharp analytical candidate. The analyst will be responsible for both conceiving and writing necessary reports, and also will be responsible for analyzing the report results in order to identify trends and relevant artifacts associate with the data.
An additional responsibility of this position is business-facing service and support. In this role, the engineer/analyst will be in an internal business facing position, fielding all client requests for reports, analytics, and data issues. Acting as the primary point of contact on day to day system issues, data questions, report queries, and trouble tickets, the engineer/analyst will understand, evaluate, comprehend the business request, and then work closely with internal staff to resolve the issue or perform the analysis in a timely manner. Working with the business, the engineer/analyst will remain in constant close contact with the business throughout the resolution process and reassure the client that their issue is being dealt with utmost care, quality, and efficiency.
The employee is responsible for developing in depth knowledge of the database schemas as well as the business data.

Candidates must have graduated within the past 12 months (or should be graduating by Summer 2013).
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical/scientific discipline (Computer Science) or engineering diploma or other degree/diploma with major in IT
Experience in two or more of the following technical areas:
- Experience with very large databases
- Understanding of Basic Database Administration
- Business Intelligence experience (experience in industry leading BI tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services, QlikView, SpotFire, Business Objects, Cognos, etc)
- Solid SQL experience - Query writing, Query tuning, Performance Monitoring
- Database knowledge: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle
- Informatica ETL
- Object Oriented design & development
- C#, Java, web technologies
