Job Description

Under general supervision, creates and prepares data files for electronic import and export using multiple reporting tools. Works with colleagues in developing and implementing reporting tools to fulfill Advancement and campus needs regarding alumni and donor information retrieval. Assists in the creation of on-line end-user tools for standard recurring reports, generates ad hoc report output as requested, develops report and data integrity utilities to run as regularly scheduled output, and integrates a variety of applications. Provides report output from written specifications, implements custom interfaces, and designs ad hoc report templates to support end-user needs. Performs some Database Administration support functions related to the advancement servers and configuration, including database and application migration and upgrades, user account security, and application training for end-users. Other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications A bachelor's level degree in computer science, computer information systems, information systems, or engineering from an accredited four-year institution and/or a related field. Ability to identify hardware/software interface problems. Knowledge of system/equipment capability, design restrictions, and security requirements. Knowledge of system development life cycle and structured systems development concepts. General knowledge of network connectivity, integration, configuration, and protocols. Ability to perform systems and applications needs analysis, prepare requests for proposals, and conduct feasibility studies. Working knowledge of a specific industry standard applications programming language and knowledge of standard systems analysis techniques. Ability to use applications software, data structures and utilities, operating systems, and communication interfaces within the computing environment. Ability to perform interactive debugging and to test and analyze program failures. Knowledge of structured programming techniques and the ability to use appropriate productivity tools to provide for more rapid development of applications. Knowledge of network configuration, programming, and protocols. Knowledge of formal data structure design, relational database design, and file structure. Knowledge of data administration principles and data modeling concepts. Ability to identify and resolve software/hardware interface problems, data requirements, and access methods. Ability to establish and execute data security standards and procedures and disaster recovery plans. Knowledge of distributed processing and client/server technologies.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Crystal Reports, PowerBuilder, Advance window objects, SQL programming, RDBMS (Oracle and Sybase), and the ability to standardize database information. Thorough knowledge of Advance database configuration and table relationships. Expertise in the use of SQL. Expertise analyzing and extracting applicable data from multiple types of computer systems. Familiarity with Ellucian's (formerly Sungard HE) Advance software knowledge of web based applications and programming. Special Working Conditions
