Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems seeks an experienced Network Systems Application Engineer for supporting and marketing YCAS products that utilize digital audio networking protocols.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with district managers, dealers and end-users to provide design and systems engineering support, high-level technical
support, troubleshooting, training and education for YCAS products that involve networking as well as third-party networking equipment.
Provide technical and marketing training on speaker systems, software and rigging for internal Yamaha staff.
Work with other system engineers and technical/applications specialists on functions listed above and support activities such as special projects and product planning.
Communicate regularly with YCJ product planning and marketing staff as well as US-based R&D staff regarding trends and developments in networking technologies.
Support, assemble and test various audio systems for demonstrations, clinics and tradeshows.
Support and conduct tradeshow demonstrations, assist in tradeshow planning, set-up and teardown as needed.
Conduct clinics and seminars to support sales and marketing activities as directed by supervisor.
Travel in the field to support various demonstrations and District Manager activities as needed.
Work with the Service/Tech staff to develop and support databases on problems, applications, FAQ's, and other items as
Compile market data, create competitive analysis and support customer requests for product planning and sales.
Complete accurately and on a timely basis, any and all reports required by the Yamaha (i.e. expense reports, vacation request forms,etc.)
Any other duties required by the Marketing Department.
Extensive knowledge of Networking protocols such real-time audio formats including but not limited to Dante, AVB,
EtherSound and CobraNet, but also IP standards such as DHCP, DSCP, IGMP, Unicast/Multicast Flows, UDP/TCP, etc.
Comprehensive practical knowledge and experience with wired and wireless networks including best practices, operation and setup of managed switches and wireless access points, and utilization of mixed networks for data, control and audio.
Working experience with ASCII or HEX-based control protocols such as MIDI/DMX512 or AMX/Crestron programming.
Solid audio engineering and sound reinforcement background both in temporary and permanently installed sound systems as well as a practical knowledge of acoustics and sound principles.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a systems engineer in the live sound event production industry or as a systems designer for an audio contractor or consulting firm.
Current Certification in networking technologies from Cisco, HP or equivalent.
Robust knowledge of audio/video systems, electronics and testing equipment.
Effective presentation skills for training and making product presentations in front of small to medium groups (2 - 40 people).
Effective written communication skills for making project proposals, customer support and internal communications.
Competency in wiring and testing of equipment racks, installation and verification of various component and system software.
A college degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Sciences considered a plus.

The flexiblity to schedule for travel within North America to support various marketing activities required.
Basic warehouse organization and maintenance skills.
Strong computer skills particularly with Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, and Outlook as well as proficient typing skills are required.
The capablity of loading and unloading of trucks containing flight cases, crates, speaker systems, etc. and lifting 50 lbs.
