The Department of Community and Economic Development with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking qualified candidates for a Systems Analyst I who will provide GIS server/web mapping and data systems support along with system maintenance and management.
Additionally, the Systems Analyst will provide direction and support to staff and graduate students in addition to providing GIS technical expertise to the ISU community and external clients. The incumbent will develop web-based GIS applications, provide data set maintenance, and access to GIS and associated databases. This position will further develop specialized web mapping and interface tools for interacting with and updating GIS data using traditional Internet, mobile phone and cloud technologies. This position will also write documentation for all products and services. Lastly, the incumbent will work with ISU GIS Facility and Extension to Communities and Economic Development (CED) staff to provide system administration and maintenance for computer hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with an ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent projects. The candidate will also have the ability to work with a wide variety of individuals internal and external to the university. The ability to communicate and present information both orally and in writing is essential to be successful in this position. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Database Management, GIS or closely related field with two years of relevant professional experience OR a Master's degree in above stated field with experience.
