The Opportunity:Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Staff Counsel - Intellectual Property position in Pullman, Washington. This is an entry level position.

Staff Counsel â Intellectual Property
Help protect SEL worldwide intellectual property portfolio.
Advise management in all IP matters including patent, copyright, licensing, trade secret, and trademark.
Work with US and foreign outside counsel to timely prepare and prosecute patents.
Work closely with R&D to identify and protect patentable inventions.
Advise and train other departments in all IP matters.
Assist Lead Counsel with infringement matters.
Draft and negotiate IP clauses and agreements including NDAs and licensing agreements.
Identify, measure and improve intellectual property processes.
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or other discipline related to SEL purpose
J.D. degree from an accredited school of law
Member in good standing of a state bar
Member in good standing of U. S. Patent and Trademark Office bar
Working knowledge of the U.S. and international patent process
Exceptional interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
2-5 years of relevant legal experience
