Job Description

Requires: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering & 8-12 YOE OR Master's Degree in Electical Engineering & 4-6 YOE OR PhD in Electrical Engineering & 2- 3 YOE.
Position is in Union City, CA. No relocation package is available for this role.

Mizuho engineers, working with leading Orthopedic Surgeons, continuously develop new surgical techniques to drive the market. SCOPE:
Apply broad knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices and techniques to the design and development of new equipment for hospital Operating Room as well as product changes and enhancements. Work on prototyping, integrating, testing and troubling. Solve electrical engineering problems at the component through system level. Conduct testing utilizing existing test protocols or create new ones as needed. Generate written reports. Contribute to the intellectual property position of the company via invention and patent application. Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes consistent with QSR and FDA requirements. Provide electrical engineering and technical support. Provide support for the resolution of product complaints and/or safety issues. Work with other engineering, manufacturing, marketing, service, quality, and regulatory staff to coordinate pilot production of new products both domestic and international.
Duties: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Understand, support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements. Support company goals and objectives. Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI's internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards). Produce efficient, creative technical designs, analysis, and testing of electrical components and subsystems for operating room equipment. Document designs, specifications, risk assessment, verification, validation, test results, and analysis in accordance with FDA design control requirements. Lead projects and technical supervision of small teams Use oscilloscopes, signal generators, and/or logic analyzers for diagnostic troubleshooting of circuits, boards, power supplies, and control systems. Interpret technical instructions, schematic drawings, component specifications, software code, and regulatory requirements. Focus on design-for-manufacturability and high-quality production by using appropriate component and process selection. May assign work to designers, technicians, or temporary workers as necessary. Develop new applications for existing controls, instruments, and systems. Plan, schedule, estimate cost, and coordinate internal and external resources for projects. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Some of the duties of this job are performed while sitting at a desk operating a computer, reading, writing and using a telephone. The employee is required to use hands to manipulate parts and hand tools. The employee is required to stand, bend and stoop, walk and occasionally to lift up to 50 pounds during the normal course of work. Occasionally may use equipment in an electrical laboratory environment.

Job duties are performed in an office environment utilizing standard office equipment such as a computer, photocopier, and telephone. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Fluency with an electrical CAD software package, such as Altium (Protel) Basic electrical design skills on digital, analog, and power circuits Working knowledge of embedded controls with micro-processors Working knowledge of motors, motor drivers and motion control Knowledge of real-time control software Strong written and verbal English communication skills are required Working knowledge of medical devices and FDA regulations required Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies including medical, technical, manufacturing, and materials developments as related to company products. Able to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and flexibility to work on different projects as assigned Ability to learn and expand knowledge in a collaborative environment within and outside the department SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS - LEVEL 4
