Job Description

Exlar Corporation, a Curtiss-Wright company, located in the southwest metro, is a global leader in the custom design and manufacture of roller screw linear actuators, rotary servo motors, and electronic products for motion control applications worldwide. We are a configure to order, high-growth company for the industrial, medical, and military markets. Our system and defense group, which provides motion control solutions, including electronic controls and electrical panels, for its project based actuator business is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer.

The person in the Sr. Electrical Engineer – Systems position will be the Exlar subject matter expert for the automation and electrical scope of supply for these solutions. Working knowledge of motion controllers, VFDs, PLC/PACs, and automation software tools and the IEC 61131-3 standard is required. Understanding of electrical standards for wiring, motor sizing, circuit protection, and panel layout for industrial automation systems is also required, including knowledge of regulatory standards such UL, CSA, and NEC.

The position will be responsible for identifying, selecting and oversight of outside contractors, panel shops and systems integrators as needed for supporting systems projects. In addition, the position provides direct support in customer and factory acceptance testing, design and set up of electrical/electronic test systems in support of projects, and development of test plans/procedures.

Travel for vendor/customer meetings and on-site customer support may be required from time to time.

Ideal candidate will have a undergraduate degree (EET, EE, or similar) in electrical engineering and/or controls engineering with at least 10 years of industrial automation experience working in a industrial systems integration environment with a focus on motion control. Working knowledge of automation equipment from Rockwell Automation is required with knowledge of other leading manufacturers desirable (Emerson Control Techniques, Siemens, etc.). Experience integrating and controlling electromechanical actuators and servo motors is required. Experience supplying commercial automation systems to the Defense industry, including understanding of MIL-standards is a plus. Candidate must be a US Citizen.
